What is the main difference between PA6 and PA66 (Nylon 6 vs. Nylon 66)?
PA66 generally has a higher melting point, slightly better mechanical strength, and lower moisture absorption compared to PA6. However, PA6 offers superior impact resistance and toughness, especially in its modified forms, and often has better processability. How does moisture affect PA6 ROD, and should I account for it during machining?
PA6 is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air. This can cause dimensional changes (swelling) and temporarily reduce stiffness while increasing toughness. White Colour 1 1/4" NYLON Hard Bar has very good temperature, chemical, and impact properties. Parts machined or fabricated from Pa6 Rod are light weight and corrosion resistant. Low friction, good abrasion resistance and the ability to operate without lubrication, qualify the PA6 ROD for such applications. Parts machined or fabricated from cast nylon are light weight and corrosion resistant. In addition, cast nylon's excellent load bearing capability, wear resistance and impact resistance make it ideal for demanding construction environments. Nylon Hard Bar which has not been compounded with UV stabilizers are sensitive to ultraviolet light. These compounds should not be used for extended outdoor service. Carbonblack (our black Nylon Sheet) is the most effective of the UV stabilizers. These additives also increase tensile strength and hardness and decrease ductility and toughness slightly.
